CATHERINE SHANNON
VICE CHAIR

Vice President and Sr. Financial Advisor
Merrill Lynch
Kate Shannon began her career in wealth management in 2005. She grew up in Southeastern Wisconsin alongside her sister, Christen, who survived a catastrophic near-drowning accident in 1984 and lived the next 13 years in their home with 24-hour, ICU-level nursing care. Kate received her B.A. in Cultural Studies & Comparative Literature from the University of Minnesota where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Chosen as a Jane Addams-Andrew Carnegie Fellow, she went on to complete her M.A. in Philanthropic Studies at Indiana University. A Twin Cities resident, mom of one, tiny-house-on-wheels-dweller, hospice volunteer, UpTurnships mentor, 17x award-winning author, and former Board Chair of the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance, Kate holds her CFRM from The Fund Raising School and is a black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate. She stands humbly, proudly, and with deep, unending gratitude on the shoulders of giants including her father, Uncle Ray, Grandpa Jim, Great Uncle Bob, and Great Uncle Ray, who served in our U.S. military through five combined wars and two P.O.W. concentration camps.
